James Earle Fraser (1876–1953) was an American sculptor best known for his iconic work The End of the Trail, which depicts a weary Native American warrior on horseback. Born in Winona, Minnesota, Fraser studied at the Art Institute of Chicago and later at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. His sculptures often reflected themes of the American frontier, including portraits of historical figures such as Theodore Roosevelt and Benjamin Franklin. Fraser also designed the Buffalo Nickel, one of the most famous U.S. coin designs. His works remain highly regarded for their emotional depth and historical significance.
