This eyepiece features a scale on the objective side for measuring samples in millimeters or microns. The scale is graduated in 0.1 mm increments. Instead of the typical 10x magnification, it has a 30 mm diameter lens barrel. The scale must be calibrated for each objective used. This requires a calibration slide with a 0.01 mm scale. Place the slide on the microscope stage and rotate the eyepiece in the tube until the eyepiece and slide scales are parallel.
