Freshly curated straight from Europe!
This is a really incredible piece of history, made by English silversmith John Price Hunt in the late 1800s. His pieces are very sought-after and I cannot find any record of this particular brooch existing elsewhere! It consists of a book etched "Hamlet" and one etched "Tempest" connected by two crossed quill pens with a snake coiled around them. It is hallmarked but as it appears the hallmarks were made before some of the pieces were put together, they are partially obscured. I can make out John Price Hunt's stamp and his Birmingham, UK assay mark, but all I know based upon the date stamp is that it is pre-1899.
This came directly from an estate in England, and it is in good condition. Please see pictures for details and measurements, does not include my display box.
