Antique Egyptian Revival Wall Hanging Quilt Tapestry Handmade Camel Donkey 42x17

A hand-sewn Egyptian Revival Applique art tapestry, created in the early 1920’s. This fabulous piece is entirely hand stitched and made of cotton or linen. Typical of the time and medium, this patchwork tapestry was done for purely decorative reasons but illustrates a traditional story staying true to the complex ancient Egyptian imagery, symbols and hieroglyphs found in historic ceremonial paintings of their ancestors. This particular tapestry shows an Egyption farmer watering his animals donkey and a camel. Wear consistent with age. The entire tapestry is intact due to it being kept in blanket chests throughout the years. Colors are still bright and material in one piece, no deterioration. This piece also shows small spots at the bottom to the cotton base (see pics). The blue marks looks like color bleed from the material. This wear does not, however, retract from this tapestries beauty and grandeur.
