American Government & Politics: A Christian Worldview is a study designed for use with an in-person or online college course class (see homeschoolpartners.net for more details), although it may be used by those not in that class, of course.(The book contains a daily/weekly reading plan for an American Government & Politics class lasting 16 weeks, 18 weeks, or 30 weeks.)The goal of this course is to make the study of American government and politics enjoyable, rewarding, and edifying, while presenting it with a Biblical, pro-limited-government worldview. The book includes "Questions for Review" for each section that reinforce concepts and encourage students to think.This book is not only a study of American government, but an analysis of the institution of government itself, based upon Biblical principles that detail its legitimate, true purposes. Unfortunately, most Americans today lack an understanding of the proper role of government. In fact, many Christians today are also unaware of what the Bible teaches about the reason why government was instituted.But should that surprise anyone?After all, about 85-90 percent of American students—even those with Christian parents—are marched off to government-run schools for 13 (sometimes 17) years. When those students are taught about government, it’s via a system funded by...the government (i.e., taxpayers). The obvious question: Will schools funded by the government teach them that (a) less government control/taxation/spending is superior, or (b) more government control/taxation/spending is superior?(No bonus points for answering correctly!)This book was written to help students understand the framework, tenets, and history of the United States government, and to analyze them in the light of this vital question: What does the Bible say are the proper responsibilities of a just, moral, effective government?
